I'll always love Tenacious D, and I thought his performances in various films were overall decent (High Fidelity, Tropic Thunder etc.) but he might also be one of those actors who are really good at playing pricks because it comes very naturally. Eugene Robinson had a Substack article that was partially about his experience meeting him, and which was pretty revealing I think. The whole throwing Kyle under the bus for saying "Don't miss Trump next time" was probably mostly decided by lawyers and PR people, but I wish Jack had the cojones to say "I support Kyle." However they are still doing their thang so I guess it worked out.

Overall NC with several waffles.

One role I always wanted to see him do was a young Orson Welles in a War of the Worlds adaptation that's about the radio play, not the book. But he's too old for that now so I guess we have to settle for old Orson Welles during his wine & peas commercials era

A very good, underrated movie. He's been in some things I've loved (Walk Hard, Enemy of the State, Tropic Thunder) and some things I've hated (Orange County, Be Kind Rewind), but overall, N/C. He doesn't really get on my nerves.

I thought Tenacious D would be something I'd enjoy, but I didn't.
"Whatever happened to that album?"
"I broke it, remember? I threw it against the wall and it like, shattered."

Kinda tired of having this PR and financial stuff factor in with whether someone is a fucking coward or not. Road to fascism is paved with a million little decisions about deciding to keep one's mouth shut for short-term safety and I have no more patience for that.

The Princess Peach song and Steve's Lava Chicken are fucking bangers though.

Agreed, you'd think JB would have enough money by now to call the shots, but at the end of the day he's still a small cog in the Hollywood apparatus, and when you have a team of people telling you what to do, you don't just stop following their directions. He's been conditioned to comply through years of work with these kinds of people. Again it's lame, but I doubt he believed that he could do anything but damage control. Also he seems to have a big ego covering some deep insecurity, and he's going to fear anything that threatens that.

And I almost forgot about The Polka King. That was awesome.

Never thought he was funny. My brother did. But my brother also liked shit like Requiem for a Dream, so...

Yeah, that pretty much told me everything I ever needed to know about him.

I watched Polka King based on the premise and that I saw what he was capable of in Bernie, which I wouldn't have checked out if it weren't for Shirley MacLaine and Matthew McConaughey. I liked him in those; they proved he was capable of more than just aping Farley's "living in a van down by the river" energy. But for the above-mentioned incident, I'm pretty much done with a guy I never really liked in the first place.

WF: I kind of want to check out that King Kong he's in but I don't hear anything good about it.
