This is pretty much how I feel about them.

I'm not going to discourage or disparage younger generations for playing in a band with musical instruments.

Seriously, "too many crappy rock bands" is a 90's problem. The popularity of a questionably decent rock band is the least of our worries. Rock musicians today are like jazz musicians in the 90s. We're carrying a torch that no longer has the same cultural currency.

Saw their live video from 2023 on youtube last night. I appreciate how schizophrenic a lot of it is - a lot of blblblblblbl with loose cheeks going back and forth into the microphone and some part where where he’s yammering on about a, and I quote “cowboy with a fucked up mind” (I support) - that material was ultimately a little too Black Crowes-coded to hang with. And I’m saying that as a Royal Trux fan!

So it was okay but that’s not what hooked me at all. They unmoored a bit with their next releases, specifically the latest record and the solo album. Also I forgot to mention, but the only time they busted out the keytar when I saw them the other night was to do a very credible cover of a Suicide song. (Of course it was Ghost Rider.)

The DJs on Radio K keep talking about them but never play them.

Finally checked them out. Thought, "Oh. This sounds like The National." Then thought, "No, Dirty Projectors."

Keep in mind, I'm only tangentially familiar with either of those bands. I guess I'm trying to say this band sounds like any other rote indie band from, say, Obama's first term, somewhere in that era.

I don't hate this but it sure as shit aint for me, either. I guess I have to vote Honk. Is that Crap here?

Do they embrace the "HONK" as a show of support? I saw them a few years ago and appreciatively yelled that between a few songs but was obnoxious and alone with it. Therefore, I have no choice but to vote "Not Honk."

Haven't heard the new album yet.
