I have the same skepticism. It seems possible they're avoiding a congressional beating that would come with trying to hold the line and making more headlines but now what: use procedural delays? The funny thing is that this will not die until the full truth comes out. It's going to take down so many people, even the ones who think they're safe now. Trump might just escape because he'll probably die before it ruins him. It'll just ruin his legacy, which is all we can hope for.
