We met up and walked around for hours downtown and then picked up the little dude from school and came back here for dinner and video games and another walk and talk, the three of us, before bringing him to the station to head back to his place. He's here for another week.

This was a big deal for me, after decades of big, difficult feelings about no one ever taking the time to come see me like I come see them.
It was also the first time that my kid could really bond with an extended family member like that, and I am overjoyed at the fact.
Looking forward to the rest of the week with everybody.
Welp, he flew home this morning.
What an incredibly beautiful week for everybody.

I will miss him.

The kids are alright.
This is good, and I agree. My kids and their peeps are going to figure this out as long as the world lets them.

Shit, this is like a Sofie's choice of loving a free meal...and grudgingly being made into a spectacle. I probably would have done the same.

Though it does remind me when my significant other need a restroom desperately on a snowy winter's evening and we hastily pulled into what was the closest parking lot - Joe's Crab Shack (a chain Seafood Restaurant). After sprinting carefully across the icy sidewalk she entered the "shack" to a full song-and-dance in progress with waiters and bartenders dancing on tabletops, as was part of their gimmick. This all only hastened the urgency of the situation, and I struggled to hold my laughter as she made her way to the back, through the Caribbean-styled Ziegfield Follies seafood gauntlet. Certainly the most colorful welcome to wreck facilities without paying I've experienced thus far.

While commuting home from work a mentally unwell black woman boarded the train and began ranting about a bunch of things. I could barely hear her with my headphones on, but I could definitely hear the white guy yelling at her to shut up and something about her being the reason that Trump won the presidency. I'm like, "dude, she's obviously unwell. stop yelling at her. we're all just trying to get home." He yelled back that he is mentally unstable himself and that I should kill him. Just kept shouting that while pointing to his chin daring me to slug him.

At the time I was super incensed and annoyed but looking back on it it was just sad.
