one of the best posts on the old forum was in response to this band. I believe it was Boombats who wrote “those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it” and put a picture of Haircut 100. tremendous work.

This band is lame, but I have to admit that I really enjoy that original single “A-Punk” - specifically the chorus. The mellotron gets me!

Absolutely hated them when they came out. They were in a wave of boring but popular indie "rock" that didn't rock, seemed ironic and affected, and was madly popular amongst people who shoulda known better. That "Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa" song was cancer. They were riding on the back of groundbreaking indie acts who thru some voodoo of internet buzz and NYC write-ups actually found some popularity too - Liars, Joanna Newsom, Deerhunter, Xiu Xiu, etc - and you could see that the wave had crested. Fucking Pitchfork. At least Bombay Bicycle Club knew when to groove.

When they made the move towards modern rock radio, I couldn't have been less surprised. They were destined to be the "Call Me Al" of their generation.
