Ok, I listened to them a little while cooking dinner. It’s not as bad if you don’t have to look at them, kind of like Urge Overkill. I’m sure they’re not wearing their costumes while in the studio, and it is a little less restrained. I doubt I’ll revisit it, and I definitely won’t be going to see those polka dot feet in the flesh. I’d bet good money they’ll be touring with either King Gizzard or Primus by the end of the year.

Holy shit. That actually happened to me once. A well-intentioned young office manager seemed to think I'd be down w/the Gizz. Boy, was he wrong.

As for this band?

First of all, I keep misreading the name as Angel de Poutine, which makes me laugh and laugh.

Second of all, I really miss the first three or four Ruins albums.

Music like this needs a little more weirdness (beyond the costumes) and grit to transcend the showmanship and technical virtuosity.

Respect for an "interesting" concept, I guess?
