Although I said "...since Nirvana..." and I know Nevermind is what made them popular,it is by far their worst album. I just had to clearify. I like them and all, but Butch Vig has no idea what he's doing.

i started listening to outkast when players ball came out back in 93 i believe. this truly is a group that has gone against the grain and created a sound that is unique for the genre. and the music has aged well too. for a band of that caliber to have picked up so much momentum after 10 years is incredible. i was gifted with speakerboxx/the love below this christmas and it has by far been my most used present yet (well, maybe the gamecube is...).....

I love this not crap group.
I loved Stankonia before it was stolen out of my car by being inside of my CD player. I mean I still like it, I just haven't listened to it in a couple of years. Even though that album is pretty "dope", my heart lies with the preceeding album, Auquimini. That is an unbelievable record that (in my opinion) really pushed Outkast onto another level. It is to Outkast what the Black Album is to Matellica, only the inverse effect, if you will. If you haven't heard Aquimini yet, then go hear it. It's really good.

Ok, I have to say that outkast has changed what the genre rap entails. Outkast is one of the few if not the only rap band I'm not embarrased to pick up. Nothing against the genre, it just needed some originality which is exactly what outkast provivded.

Not Crap, but certainly not the end all amazingness that it seems. This record....sounds close to finished, but just seems to be missing something - an editor or an outside producer to trim the fat. It is a mass, and there is a lot of stuff on it that won't engage me next time, except for hitting the FWD button.

Still, that is a very narrow perspective. On the grand scheme, this album is the freshest gust of wind to hit popular music since Beck broke out of his "Loser" paradigm (Odelay).

I have to say that after numerous listens, I prefer the Speakerboxx half much more than The Love Below. Both gents are on the former, while the latter seems a bit self indulgent.

Still, a mile above 99% of other rap/popular musics.
