kevin ratterman does a good job he's done a bunch of local stuff and his old band elliot...
will hancock just moved back from florida, he's brilliant, recorded the final unreleased crain album and some parlour and other odds and ends like the party girls, glasspack, etc....
mmm...paul oldham has recorded most of the parlour stuff...he's really laid back and easy to work with.
this dude kent does a studio with chris owens, not sure if they're up and running again after combining stuff. i dunno, kent works at cahoots...kent did the children.
jason hayden is trying to do more recording, he did his own thing verktum and did the instant camera record whichs ounds great too.
jason lowenstein was recording some bands but i believe he moved back up to nyc.
not sure about proper studios though, i guess paul and kent are the only ones with a real studio, kevin did, but might not have a formal set up anymore in a building permanently.

23Lovely, lovely place. Lovely, lovely people.
It is clique-ish, but I've never been to a place where there was as much of a sense of local affection and general camraderie. People who live there love it there, love each other and love the place. I find it all quite nice.
And there have been many great, uncategorizable bands from there: Circle-X, Endtables, Slint, Rodan, Babylon Dance Band, Squirrelbait...
Salut! Louisville!

The bars are open until 4-5am. Crucial.
The people are so fucking nice. I can't remember everyone who put me up all the times I stayed there, but every single one to a man was straight up good people.
Their houses were so pretty. One taught me everything I know about bourbon. Another put together a skateboard with a brand new deck and hardware so we could skate the park, which is fucking phenomenal.
In my top five US cities, for sure.

25I went to Louisville for the first time at the beginning of this year.
As a resident of Washington, DC, a heavily transient city that adds a new dimension to the word "clique" (besides having other unique questionable characteristics), I enjoyed Louisville's relative "unpolished-ness" enormously.
Plus you can't beat a $1.25 can of Falls City at the Seidenfaden.
Louisville is a great town for many great reasons.

26I've been a couple times and had great vists every time. My favorite place is still the first place I stopped which was Tink's bar. At first glance I though it was just a regular old hick bar, then slowly I realized it was a hick GAY-bar. I would make the trip just to go to Tink's. Some wonderful, down to earth, inclusive and freindly folks in there. And Sterling beer for a dollar. Good times. Also Jason Noble and Kyle Crabtree are the most hospitanble hosts ever.

27All you non-locals MUST check out the Back Door in the Mid CIty Mall. Only in this Loovull hotspot will you see Bikers, rednecks, college frat weenies and punk rockers sitting in circles, holding hands singing "Jesus Loves Me" and "Koom Ba Ya (spelling)" in perfect harmony. Bars that stay open til 4am, the raddest, gleamin' the cube'n-est park around, low cost of living. I'll put my town up against yours in a Pepsi challenge anyday. Definitely NOT poop.

28You ever see that episode of Family Guy when hes in a KFC in Kentucky trying to meet the colonel and the kid's saying "I already say you he dead"?
My friend from Lexington gets really pissed off about that. Do you all have a reputation for talking funny or something?

Not really, but we prefer "y'all" as opposed to this "you all" nonsense.
