i'll second serena maneesh and add "le volume courbe," who may irritate or delight you depending on your tolerance for female vocals with a heavy french accent. sparse, usually just acoustic guitar and or keys.... kevin shields plays acoustic guitar on three tracks. i like it.

Saw Serena-Maneesh last night @ the Empty Bottle (BTW - they'll be back there on the 28th). I loved their album to death, but I was convinced they'd be horribly self-indulgent onstage. NOT THE CASE AT ALL. Make no mistake, they're quite full of a certain kind of shit, but they're no pretentious shoegazers - in fact, they're exuberant and bouncy. Better than the album. Best noise-pop group in a long while.

i generally don't like "The Current" and the style of rock associated with it, but every now and then someone comes along and i find their radio-ready music not only tolerable but worthwhile.

this guy here has got some really good songs:

I seem to have been taken with an album called Boo Hoo Hoo Boo by They Shoot Horses Don't They. Seven-piece from Canada with a dominant horn/brass section. Noisy and weird.

Wow! They are pretty great.

Along the same lines, sort of, is Qpe (Quiet Personal Electronics) though I will say upfront that he is a good friend of mine so I am biased.

I encourage you guys to check him out.

My good friend Tom Stack brought Bikneva to my attention.

Thank you, Tom Stack.
