they had awesome killing powers then.

opening band was some new outfit no-one had ever heard of called volcano suns.

When I was a younger man living in Boston in 1994 (and also going to the Rat - "The Best Damn Bar In Boston") one of my over 30 roommates at the time had a fling with Craig Scanlon behind her boyfriend's back who's last name was also Scanlon. He would stay with us sometimes and they would be out at the bar by 11 am. His doctor in England had told him he was dehydrated and that he needed to make sure he drank 3 pints a day, "..of water NOT beer" said the perscription....

Whenever he called the house I could never understand what the fuck he was saying because he had an accent like Ozzy Osbournes. Don't get me wrong, he was a very nice guy to my early 20's self, it just took me awhile to learn how to understand him. That was also the first time I ever heard the band.
it's not the length, it's the gersch

Just read the messageboard on the unofficial page, and it's not looking good for the rest of the tour. Sounds like the singer from The Talk (The Fall's support for this tour) threw half a banana at MES in Phoenix last night, the band's set was curtailed and supposedly Mark and his wife flew home.

Guess we'll see what happens.

Here is a first-hand account of the Phoenix show.

Guy on a Houston message board wrote:Saw 'em last night in Phoenix.

There were about 40 people there.

During the second song one of the dudes from the opening band THE TALK ran up on stage and pelted ol' man Smith in the head with a banana... hard. It exploded! (the banana, not his head). TALK dude runs off stage while Mark E. Smith takes off his jacket, rolls up his sleeves, and chases after him. I watched them running around a van in circles. Mark had his dukes up the whole time and looked pisssed. The other guy just kept jogging backwards yelling shit at him "Fuck You you pathetic old asshole!". This went on for about 5 minutes untill Mark gave up and came back in to continue the show. 20 minutes later he tinkered on a keyboard, whispered something to his wife/keyboard player and walked off stage. I guess the whole band minus his wife had already made up their minds that they were quitting the group and flying home that night... after only 4 days of tour!!!When they finished the crowd (who payed $25 a ticket) got pissed and started chanting "ENGLAND SUCKS!" and "USA"!!!

It was awesome and most likely the last time the Fall will play the US ever again.
**Do we need the other Chemical Bros. records??

you should read the whole account on the pitchfork site, because it is rather hilarious. guy who hit MES with the banana talks about "mr. burns" coming after him with "1800's english boxing hands." i love the fall, but he shouldn't be surprised that people in america won't take abuse from him (especially when they don't know that's "his thing," and bananaman obviously didn't)

"USA"
