love the kinks. some of their more sappy stuff may not be my cup of tea, but i have to say, i was very pleased when i picked up their BBC disc a few years back. yum.

anybody catch the use of "everybody's gonna be happy" in a teevee commercial within the past year or so? i think i was more glad to hear the song than upset that it was in a commercial.

NON'T CRAP

I love them but they aren't the best Brit band ever.

Yeah, there was also "Picture Book" for HP recently. It was kinda cool. Davies and Townshend are in a race to see who can sell their songs to fastest.

I'll take the Kinks over the Who (almost) any day.

These guys were so "not crap" that they were almost crap again.

I adore them. Sure, they had some rough periods, but Face to Face, Something Else, Village Green, and Arthur are about perfect. They could make 30 records of absolute shit and these four records would keep them afloat.

They were singing about small town life when the rest of the world was trying to outdo each other by writing the ultimate LSD freak-out song, and dammit *that's* rebellion.
