I strenuously disagree with pretty much everything said, except "Come on." I will grant that Confusion Is Sex is a good album, one of my faves by SY, but I don't think there's anything all that rocking about it ("occasionally dancable" is quite different from "rocking"). I think it's the album's lack of traditional groove that makes it so intriguing. "She's In A Bad Mood" is pretty OK.

That said, one of my favorite Sonic Youth albums is NYG Ghosts & Flowers, and I'm sure there are plenty of folks who would disagree with that.

I didn't say that I personally hate Sonic Youth's more recent output - I can simply understand it that some people do. When people say Confusion is Sex is just shit, though, it makes me wonder if they've ever really taken a good listen to that album. To me, it clearly stands as one of the genre-breaking albums in rock, much as Wire's first three records do.

We're on the same page, AAAAAAAARGH. Early Sonic Youth was the best band in the history of time and "Bad Mood" is their finest hour on record.

I don't know what was flying around the studio, but Sonic Youth shook the earth that day.

Insanely NOT CRAP
