My understanding of how Scientology works is that you re-experience all your past traumas until they become "neutral" memories with no emotional charge. Once those past traumas stop exerting a voodoo vibe hold over you, you are then free to achieve your goals without sabotaging yourself.
Seems reasonable.
I read somewhere that Hubbard took Aleister Crowley's OTO rituals and turned them around backwards from how they should be set up. I don't know what that means but it sounds interesting.

Can't say for sure, but I'll bet that part of why it seems like he can't form a thought is a combination of him still having some ADD going on, just being a scatterbrain in the first place, and also that there was a person asking him questions. Without the questions, and the way it's been edited, it seems like he's just a raving cuckoo. I have to assume this was done for some reason.
Yeah, that was pretty weird though. Not sure why that would make someone want to join. Maybe the idea that Scientology can take a scatterbrain cuckoo like this guy and make him into one of the most recognizable, and maybe "successful", people in the modern world? It didn't really do that for me. But maybe it has that effect on some folks?
