yeah he has the vegan thing going to - or maybe he's just a vegetarian - i don't remember, but i know he converted a few of my friends to "vegetarianism".

i had 2 friends back in the day who claimed to be straight-edgers. one of them ended up selling drugs. the other actually stayed staightedge.

Hardcore kids that turned to Krishna. Once the guys from the Cro-Mags (Harley) and Ray from Youth Of Today got into Krishna, an army of kids followed them.
It was sort of bizarre. Then again, New York in the 80's was pretty bizarre.
The only straight edge kid I ever knew was one of these guys. I'm pretty sure it was John Joseph from the Cro-Mags who converted. I remember my friend taking me to some Krisna Parade on Avenue B and John Was there chanting and jumping around.
Bizarre indeed.
The last I knew my friend graduated with a degree in Computer Science, Lives in Brooklyn and drinks like most normal adults.

They all just go to the opposite end of the spectrum, and become raging alcoholics or hardcore drug addicts. I think it's because they miss the period that everyone else uses to learn how to moderate their intake of drugs and alcohol.

I knew a straight-edge couple when I was in college the first time.
The girl was kinda cute, but after they broke up, she got kinda fat, engaged to a ginormous dude and moved to Ohio or West Virginia or some other weird ass place.
I remember running into the dude on Thanksgiving of 2002 and he was trashed, but every other time I saw him he had his shit together so I guess he became "normal."
He plays guitar in a band called
Thrushes.
