Why is that a generally accepted excuse?
GBV's median age was around 38-ish when they peaked. Their twentysomething output was derivative and not too remarkable. Lou Barlow was well in his 30s for all those great classic Sebadoh albums. Ditto for Bob Mould and Sugar/mid-period solo stuff.
Shit, Franz Liszt was in his 70s when he forewent his bread-and-butter piano wankery and composed his most forward-thinking work which foreshadowed French impressionism
Point being: sucking is sucking.

Then what is your excuse?
Zing!!!
So, where's the "zing"? Have you heard any of the music I'm playing these days?
If so and you think it sucks, okay then.

The talent didn't leave, he just tries to hard too combine his vocabulary with cheesy pop culture references.

Maybe I'm alone on this, but I got REal Emotional Trash and its gotta be my favorite record to come out recently. It is really fucking good. I have never cared for any of his post-Pavement stuff but you should hear the whole record if you haven't tried it. Awesome.

The one liner was the zing. The "zing" was to let you know it was a one liner and that I was joking.
I have not heard anything you have done other than Rifle Sport which I do like very much.
