Actually, I honestly believe that if a person can't figure out on their own how to be kind, then fuck that person.
i think most of us know the things you do to be kind to others, but how do you cultivate an attitude where you are genuine in these actions? i'm not looking to be the ultimate do-gooder. i'm looking to increase the amount of care, concern and interest that i have for other people on a genuine and meaningful level. does that make sense?

I see from your sig that you're in a band called 'The Humanists'.
Oh, the delicious irony!
Frank Decent is right. Empathy, brother.
Empathy. If you can't get a handle on that, give up and find work as a freelance lumberjack.

anyone have any tips for dealing with a dumbass you have to work with? she literally retains nothing. i have to tell her time and time again the same things. she's just very single minded, but i don't think it's a mental/phychosis problem b/c she's got with where-with-all (sp?) to make up lies to cover her tracks.
for example, we're in a lab environment. even at almost 6 months of employment, she has to be reminded to wear a lab coat. i mean, seriously...
i just can't find it in me to be nice to her...
Your fellow human being may have dyslexia:

When enlisting the help of others always delegate those things in which you excel to yourself and leave the rest to those who can perform the remaining tasks of your plan to a competent degree. This division of labor creates win-wins for everybody

This is a good thread because it tells me that I'm not alone with my desire to be less of an asshole.
I broke up with my girlfriend, moved into an apartment by myself closer to my work, bought some things I needed and my place is slowly coming together. These things are centering me and making me happier, and I believe in turn it will result in more positive interactions with those I care about, and even those I don't.
