What can I say; I don't have much to do at work these days and I like forums.

Are you the cunts who were outside banging pots and pans and screaming the words "we don't care" over and over again at about 5/6 am?

if not, sorry for apparent hostility but if so, that was a really cunt thing to do.

yeah, as for the festival - overwhelming lack of good bands. ATP is beginning to slip. not a good sign. rednails were fucking atrocious.

No, we weren't those particular cunts. We weren't being clever or quiet but we weren't doing that.
And I forgot to mention the large numbers of beards sported by punters. Never seen that before. It's a baaaad marker.

How come you were in the vip section?

Is Mark Kozelek the dude who's playing with them in London? Do you know if he's dropped out of that too?

I think he is supposed to be playing at least one of the London shows. Someone did tell me why he had cancelled but I am afraid I have forgotten. I guess you should email Foundation.
Why were we in the VIP bit? It's to do with one of the ladies in our chalet - which we paid for, by the way. The new chalets have a stereo, video and a minibar. And free money and sex. Not all of this is true.

Yeah i'd have to say it was the worst one i've been to, but I still had a good time. The good bands were few a far between, but the people who were good were really good.

To many cheesy rock bands on downstairs.

I didn't go to this year's, but I remember one recently (think it was the Director's Cut one) at which lots of beards were sported - to the extent that Bob or Steve made a comment about it during their set ("the year of the beard").

Was this year's even worse for the beards?

Overall I thought it sucked pretty badly. On the positive side Slint were musically good, but the room was too rammed and anoxic to be really enjoyable. Mogwai and Matmos were good and I sort of enjoyed Melvins although they were a bit too metal for my tastes. Brightblack were okay in a Califone sort of way. That's not much to write home about in three days

The majority of rest of the bill really blew. Pub rock that I wouldn't have stayed in a pub for. Rednails ? Sean Garrison ? Pearls and Brass ? Love as Laughter ? Spoon ? Once Mark Kozelek had cancelled, the highlight of Sunday was eating fish and chips in Hastings.

Consensus in our (non VIP) chalet was that it was a money grab. Too few bands, long waits between bands and not enough quality. I've been to three prevoius ATPs and this was a huge disappointment in comparison. Can't see me bothering next year.

Atp was shit, lame and about 1million other words that mean SUCKED.apart from slint and mogwai it was pretty awful.only seven bands on the 1st day? but don't worry we get STAREMASTER instead.watching two fucking retards on stage as the stare at each other.OH! the thrills.OH! the fun.and you thought you'd finished school.this was the worst one yet(by far)and i've been to all of them, even the twin week ones.i still had a good time but this was more to do with the nightlife and some friends, than the bands.king kong were just complete shit,i can't belive the guy used to be in slint.hopefully next year will be better but then how could it be any worse?

In my opinion:
I very very thoroughly enjoyed both Melvins and Slint. Both were incredible. I also really enjoyed Mogwai, Bad Wizard, Mighty Flashlight and Brass and Pearls.

One complaint though: There seem to be a lot of people who'll go to a rock show to complain that they don't like rock music, or anything that goes along with it.
Overheard comment of the festival after slint: "i fawt they 'ad keyboards in 'em mate" god fucking help me.
