I'm with the Cap'n on this one, tho I'd even eliminate a few of the early records. I always thought the drumming on "Camera Eye" from Moving Pictures to be astonishing, my favorite Peart song.
A few albums out of a whole load, tho, does not save you from being CRAP.

CRAP, but not entirely without their merits. Some gems here and there, but I've never heard an LP by them that I've liked all the way through.
If I wanna hear Canadians with a funny-sounding singer play in fucked-up time signatures, I'll stick with Voivod, thankyouverymuch.

BTO does not deserve to be compared to Rush merely because both bands are Canadian--I'm surprised Steve has not come to BTO's defense. While I do like the riffage in "Working Man," it's the lone digestible song in a long and vomit-worthy "career." The only band I hate more than Rush is The Eagles. I'd rather listen to Triumph or April Wine any day of the week--not that those bands don't suck, mind you. But Rush sucks in a uniquely monolithic manner.

Wow... This is cool. Only one page on Rush and no appearant Kerbelling?
Yes, Rush are overrated and not worthy of a lengthy discussion. Neil Peart is a very good drummer, but not as good as people think. Yes, he has a lot of crap on his drum kit and does some neat stuff.
A prog rock band without serious keyboards is lame. I laugh my ass off when I hear those keys on Xanadu...
Don't get me wrong, they are a very good band. They simply pale in comparison to Genesis and Yes. They also got into prog fairly late, and if it wasn't for how "streamlined" their prog sound is, they would have been like Yezda Urfa (who are a much better band).
Nonetheless, I give them a "Crap" simply to even out the amount of hype and disservice they have done to progressive rock. If you know the 70's Yes material, you know that Rush have lifted a lot of material from Yes. They simplified it and made it accessible for Trans Am driving losers.

you think YOU hate Rush?
Not to laugh at child molestation or anything but the old drummer of a band I was in told us that his uncle used to take him down into the basement and fondle him, to cover up the sounds of the touchings he would blast rush.
This came up when the guitarist said we should do a rush cover as a joke.
We did not end up doing the Rush cover.

ha, this somes up my opinion of Rush perfectly.
The thread where Steve was deconstruction Rush lyrics in the wee hours of the morning is one of the best things on this board.
Rush, I am so glad you are a band, but you are total crap!

They had a couple of good albums-Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures.
I care not to get into or defend the rest.
