NOT CRAP!

'thing of beauty' is a great album.

well worthy of re-issues methinks, though their two best albums were released on sst and so it seems very unlikely considering the complete implosion of that label round about the same time.

the homestead stuff is also good and far more likely for reissue.

The biggest Volcano Suns fan I knew personally was my old cat Jasper. No shit! I'd growl, "And I think that she thinks... THAT I'M CUTE!!!" at him, and he'd get up from where he was sitting, stand on his hind paws, and want me to play with him.

Definitely NOT CRAP.

i bought every record as they came out.

Bright Orange Years blew me away. One of my favorite records to this day.

I saw them dozens of times, all lineups. I even saw Kenny Chambers play guitar once, if I am not mistaken. The only record I don't totally love is that last one they did with Mr. A. The mix is too bottom heavy, it sounds muffled and too thick.

But BOY, Farced, Bumper Crop, All Night Lotus - all standouts in my opinion.

We were privileged to open for them once. I had sort of figure out "sounds like bucks" and I played it in soundcheck, while the Suns were busying themselves in the back of the Rat. Got the hairy eyeball, I did.

Salut Volcano Suns. I loved your band for a long time, and still do.

"All Night Lotus Party" and "The Bright Orange Years" are completely brilliant. I got stranded in the mountains between El Paso and Albuquerque with only "All Night Lotus Party" to listen to for about 12 hours. Drove my ex-wife to near suicide. Would have saved me a lot of money...

Salut Volcano Suns!

FYI, "The Bright Orange Years" and "All Night Lotus Party" are being reissued on Taang Records later this year, with remastering by Bob Weston.
Aside from those, Farced is the one I keep coming back to. It's pretty different for VS...I actually hated it on the first couple listens. The rest of the albums aren't as good, but there are classic songs scattered across them.
