Well, that just plain sucked. So close.
Salut St. Louis Cardinals. You have proven that you are the better team and deserve to be champs.
Salut Detroit Tigers, for having such a great season when no one (myslef included) thought you could do it. You have given me a great summer.

On the bright side, Dave Dombrowski's restocking of the farm system finally seems to be bearing fruit. For those who follow these things, keep an eye on 2 young pitchers with a ton of potential, Justin Verlander and Joel Zumaya. Hopefully this is the year that we don't have to grossly overpay just to get someone to play there.
My other predictions were more miss than hit (although to be fair, the Marlins pick was made before the fire sale). How were
yours?

Congratulations to Tony LaRussa for having managed the winning team in two of the worst world series ever to have been played, if not the two worst. You suck.

Some props to AlBStern. [I'm not being an asshole with this.] I saw his avatar before the season started and I sort of giggled to myself. My grandpa and dad are Tiger fans, and that was an OK thing to be in the 80s. But that decade is long gone. I've always not liked them for family reasons. Now, grandpa's dead, dad and I've buried the hatchet , and I see this avatar, and I think "WTF? This poor Al, lost soul man. He must have read that Roger Angell essay too." He must know more than me what it means to be a real fan. My hometown team has been nothing but a joke for 30 years. But then they, the Tigers, dazzled all summer, and won me over.
Salut, Al. You are one of a handful of Tiger fans I know. And for you, I'd have loved to see them do it. I know no Cardinal fans, and the Cardinals are maybe even cuter than the Cubs, so I'm not happy about this. What a shitty series.

Seems like a lot of pitching to give up. That being said, I like the idea of having that bat in the middle of the line up.

Sheffield is not worth one young arm, much less three.

Once again, Brian Cashman is a fucking wizard.
I'll miss Gary Sheffield, though. I think I may have said it before, but he's my kind of asshole.
That said, bring on
Sanchez.

He's supposed to be pretty good. I saw him in the Futures Game and his stuff was electric. That being said, he has been injured at some point in each of his 5 years of pro ball, all with arm trouble. He has had trouble with his conditioning. He has never pitched as much as 130 inning in a season. If not for the durability and weight issues, he wouldn't have been traded.
