They could be the worst band ever but The Doors exist so it's too close for me to call. Horrible music, horrible singer with absolutely horrible lyrics. I could not for the life of me understand how they were popular.

The Doors are by far *not* the worst band ever. Morrison was way more talented than Kiedis ever dreamed of being, and he was far more interesting a person. Also The Doors had a unique sound.

Big influence on Joy Division and the Misfits too, if that matters to anyone.

Morrison was a wanker. Still they were doing something bold and new.

Thirded.

I mean, come on. Donovan was a contemporary of The Doors. Are you seriously going to argue that The Doors are worse than the guy responsible for “Sunshine Superman” and “Mellow Yellow”?

I like Donovan too, but the Doors were solid as fuck, what a debut, and a huge influence on tons of good bands including quite vocally, the Stooges. I wont be taking the stand for RHCP.

I enjoy making fun of Mr Mojo Risin's ridiculousness as much as anybody, but worst band ever? Come on. The Doors were legit.

Big infuence on Ian McCullough/Echo & the Bunnymen, too.

Yeah Morrison might have been kinda douchey and an asshole, but no more so than Kiedis. I don't expect rock stars to be well behaved.

Well, it's entirely possible that they were a worse band.

And Season of the Witch is better than anything by Reef or Kula Shaker or Primal Scream or Nickelback or a hundred other bands I could name

They were absolutely worse than Donovan. They were worse than any other band in the 60's. Absolute shit music with a terrible singer who wrote some of the worst lyrics ever. If I'm out to dinner and hear shit music like Eric Clapton, I can just tune it out. The doors are so aggressively bad that I can't even do that. I just sit cursing the stupid singer and shit keyboard player until the song is thankfully over. They're like a comic parody of a 60's band.
