Thanks! Yeah, that seems to be the easiest thing - very weird that there's no way to turn the auto split off.

It's less audibly jarring if you turn off the auto fade-in and fade-out at the edges. Then it's just a visual issue.

I think the way I avoided this previously was to have the setting activated that asks me if I want to keep a take after every pass, so that any false starts or fuckups that end halfway through get deleted from the track entirely, so I would only have full takes from start to finish to cycle through.

I turned that back on and it seems good enough for now - thanks!

That is a good setting. The way Reaper handles takes is the reason I quit using it.

When I was trying to track down a solution to this, a few people mentioned Ardour as having a much more sensible approach to multitrack takes. Anyone have any experience with it?

Reason is my DAW of choice, and it's probably the only one that's even more frustrating to use for multi-mic/track takes than Reaper.

Haven't tried Ardour but since it's completely free, I guess I'd say giver a go and let us know?

What is the off beat, non subscription video editing software of choice? The Reaper of video, if you will. I ain't buying Final Cut!

Davinci Resolve. For free nothing comes close. The full version is 200 bucks but tge free version is extremely powerful. Great color correction.

Is it a bad idea to store my guitars this way? Will it bend the necks or anything?
