Damon quit mid-tour, in the form of driving off with the van and leaving the rest of the band stranded.

No way man. What album are you listening to? Almost all the new material is played with picks and in drop C. A decent amount of it with heavy distortion. Though I don't like the new incarnation as much, the fact that they are writing their own style is what keeps it redeeming. WCLP sounds very different from any other Don Cab album, as it should.

"Dink-Donk-Dink- 'Ka-Dink-Donk-Dink-Donk" guitar shit.

For me personally, I have never thought of the drums as being the cool part of Don Cab. It is all about the melodies and structures for me which is why I think Banfield's new band Knot Feeder kicks the shit out of the current "Don Caballero."

For me the cool part of Don Caballero is not being able to decide what part I like best. Whether it be the obvious choice of Damon's drumming, Ian's dense kerplunk'ing melodies, the br00tal II putting all metal bands in their place, the unheard of amount of compatibility between Williams and Banfield, the underrated glue that is Eric Emm... the greatest thing for me about Don Cab is that I can't decide on the greatest part. Or album. Or lineup.

Mid-set, at that.

Not-crap

If DonCab had not existed before WCLP, I bet a lot of us would be saying "Wholly shit, you here this new band..........."

Instead many of us long for the old lineup and sound. And if they did have extended longevity we'd probably beat em up for doing the same thing album to album. My favorite albums are the ones that you have high expectations of because you need a certain "fix" of music from a particular artist. Then when its different, its hard to accept. I often put the album down, then listen to it again months later. Many times my higtened expectations have relaxed and the quality of the music is heard. I have done this with many of my favorite albums. Not WCLP thou, that shit rocked right from the get go.

I like all the albums. Dude shouldn't be ditchin his band thou!

The second half of What Burns...

Does anyone actually think that is Crap?

Crazy.

That record is as Not Crap as it gets.

Ah yes, I remember when I saw 'Robert Fripp - Careful With That Axe', I was blown away by the similarities in the guitar playing. I swear there's some skinny sketched out dude that looks like Ian in Fripp's league of crafty guitarists as well. No bubbles though...
