I said it was irrelevant, though true. Defenders of electronic music often claim that it is "just as hard" to make music this way, and I was saying, no it isn't, and also shut up about it because that has nothing to do with why it is horrible music.

I find it much easier to make music that meets my standards of quality by playing physical instruments with my hands than programming electronic music. The hardest way to make music I appreciate is to piece sounds together with a mouse.

To translate soul and vision into electronic music is very challenging as you lack that physical connection between yourself and the sound. It takes a different mindset and approach.

Not everyone who has great musical vision, aesthetics and talent is necessarily a capable player in a traditional fingers on a fretboard or whatever sense. An electronic medium frees them to express themselves.

None of this is a comment on Burial's tunes. I haven't heard them, and I'm not so much into that style, so I have no judgment.

tocharian wrote:And just cuz it needs to be said: Nina, I am so tired of your assclown pronouncements that never, EVER have any argument. Do you have some form of aphasia that prevents you from stringing together more than three sentences at a time?

You suck, Nina, oh self-inflated queen of the spendspace thread. The world will never grasp your significance. *sigh*

It needs to be said?

Cuz why?

Cuz there's a mighty wall of silence surrounding my assclownism that only you are brave enough to breach?

Cuz the unspoken shame of aphasia strikes 4 out of 5 Premier Rock Forum members on a daily basis and it is time to end the madness?

Cuz you're too post modern to own a television?

Cuz you treat autistic kids, and the heart-rending tragedy of their isolation makes your ability to say what ". . . needs to be said," a moral imperative? Even a *sigh* CATEGORICAL IMPERATIVE? *sigh* yay me *giggle*?

Cuz club music is hot but it is even hotter when it is post modern cuz post modern is now and now is so yesterday that you don't even own a television so thankfully *giggle* you aren't subject to the annoying onslaught of disconnected images, randomized cultural signifiers, consumerist flattery, bald faced pastiches of samples, simulacrum, industrial and consumer detritus, and extensive digital manipulation turning the people we know and love into media zombies who want to eat you but not in a good way cuz you don't really taste that good cuz you're already dead inside?

Cuz you go to Burt's.
And Burt's is Kewl.

Cuz you just can't stand to be ignored anymore?

Cuz you make no bones of your post modern ethic?

Cuz music which aims to pass as a pure representation of a "real world" event is in fact a real world event which aims to pass as nothing, the idea of mimesis not really applicable here in the rather abstract world of sounds notwithstanding the fact that certain instruments or players or even the happy marriage of the two as exemplified by Eric Dolphy and perhaps varieties of crow and mockingbird who aim to imitate the sounds of our fellow avians do so within a structure of non-representational, possibly arbitrary rules.

Cuz you lead the valiant fight to protect Steve's anus from the snotty, inflamed honkers of his minions?

Cuz you like to sass?

Cuz you seem to have a coherent aesthetic and I respect that?

Cuz you seem to have a coherent aesthetic and then again, why wouldn't you? As a professional recording engineer who has concentrated on a relatively narrow range of activities for twenty-five or even more years it would be quite shocking at least disappointing to realize that you have no aesthetic, coherent or otherwise? But then again, after that much time and energy we could probably assume that a simple listening session would reveal the emergence, over time, of an aesthetic, necessarily coherent, (though that point has been contested by academic philosophers), though not necessarily the aesthetic you thought you were promoting.

Cuz none of that really applies to you, though, does it?

Cuz last time I checked you were defending music for the mating ritual, the home loan, the erasure of memory, the brutalization of empathy, the slow, soundless deflation of each human projection, of each humans feeling, falling further from the intended, tendrils turning brown and rotten, on the body which sends them but will soon learn its lesson?

Cuz you want Justice but in this life we have the Law?

Man Nina, if I were the editor of the high school lit mag I'd publish that.

No wonder you never post more than 3 sentences. You make no fucking sense.

Oh and Nina… either, you’re and an utter fraud, crazy, or a manipulative, callous bitch.

Minotaur and I still have lots of unanswered questions about who you’re claiming to be, what you claimed you could help him with and why when he met said performer in person she claimed to not to post here.

This could get real real… real soon.

Shall I go on?

Fuck.
You are just as psychotic as your boyfriend.

"Utter fraud"?
If I want to believe that Rick Reuben is really a well known, world famous Buddhist asshole, does that mean that he is?
If I really, really, really want to believe that, and so I do, despite all evidence to the contrary, am I sane?
What if Rick Reuben gives up telling me any different, because I am obviously plagued with emotional problems, sexual insecurity, and a pathetic loneliness expressing itself through obsessive internet fantasy?
What if Rick Reuben's exasperation and lack of attention to my talents is really a secret language, devised for my ears only?
What if that secret language is used to relay promises of future happiness?
Can anyone else hear that language? Understand it?
Have you ever heard of Radical Interpretation?

Blackmail is the tool of the coward.
And you, my dear, are a coward, as well as a fool.

Nina I don't want anything from you.

And how dare you call someone psychotic who you drew into a months long correspondance by leading him to believe he was talking to someone he really admires. He actually did not want me to pursue this because he came to really care about you and continues to be concerned for you.

Question one.

This is a yes or no question.

Are you Nina Nastasia?

I needed several looks at previous pages to understand this.. sudden turn in discussion. As Robadod suggests, PM's are a good thing.

Nina that posts here is not Nina Nastasia, folks. Incidentally, I am not Tommy Ramone.

Emmanuelle Cunt isn't Pete Doherty either.
