Yeah I agree with that wholeheartly. I think decent and relatively well behaved children are awesome. However, non-communicative, gurgling, crying, runny shit machines repulse me entirely. Everytime I have been forced to hold someone’s recent spawn it is always uncomfortable and undesired experience. I am sure the perception is way different if you are a parent as I do thoroughly believe evolution has crafted very strong p/maternal bonds between child and parent that kick in immediately. Even when they are gross, stinky, caterwauling, spitting up little babies.

Given the choice I would just as soon they emerged from the vagina at roughly two years of age and ability to communicate. Then again that’s easy to say as a male, since the larger organism would not have to pass thru one of my orifices to begin its life.

I was an Elementary school teacher for 5 years in 7 different schools- some poor, mostly lower income and one school with privileged kids.

Teaching was all the birth control I needed.

I suppose I could change my mind now that I am happily married. I don't think if I chose to have a baby with the mrs.arrison that it would be necessarily selfish. That said, I'd probably consider adoption first, but I would need to know the kid first on some level to really want to adopt.

In my late 20's, I taught a kid who I strongly considered adopting. She was in a foster home, but she had a great personality and was very creative and she tried to make the best of her situation. She was stronger willed than most adults I have met. It didn't pan out, I was not married at the time, making a teacher salary and the technical difficulty of arranging an adoption was staggering.
