Plus when you lift weights you're still burning calories while you sit on your ass later in the day. That's a nice feeling.

Somehow managed to lose about 25 pounds since January simply by getting back to the gym and cutting down on the drinking. I realized that I am only about 10-15 pounds away from what I weighed in my early twenties, so I've decided to go for it. I am traditionally terrible at dieting. I can effectively lose weight, but I tend to go about it the wrong way. Ie, the unsustainable way. I restrict myself a little too much and only eat foods where I'm sure of the caloric content so that I can properly track them. Pounds shed right off, but I set myself up in a boring and bland food world which leads to the inevitable bingequit. I don't know. I just want to live, man. Perhaps a better method would be to look at the foods I regularly eat and like to eat and reduce from there. If the scale doesn't budge, reduce further. My stomach will adjust. Why didn't I think of this before?

I have been in Texas since Tues for a funeral. It's hard not to pig out at a southern funeral. No gyms out here, but I chopped wood for like three hours yesterday. Completely shredded my hands, feeling it in my back and shoulders. Get at me you country fucks.

I have gone through this before but nothing like this. I got a little potential diabetes 2 scare at the doctors and decided to put a stop to it.travis k wrote:I take BCAA protein shakes after lifts too and that really helps the muscles recover for the next day.I'm supplementing Casein from ON regularly and I have some QNT Whey that I'm mixing with Casein from time to time. I have never been a firm believer in BCAA specific supplementation as many say those fuckers are included with Whey supplements, and then some say they aren't. So I just take more Whey instead. It's cheaper.

I have never done specific trap work in my life, those pretty much get covered doing DLs. I don't know you need that much trap action, unless you're a boxer or a football player. Also, I don't mind a little biceps work. At least those babies get inflated really quickly and it has, if nothing more, a little psychological effect on you. LOL

I turned on the fitness app the other day and logged my current weight ~180lbs. The last time i checked in i weighted 156, 2 1/2 years ago--that straight line isn't accurate (i've taken off 15lbs this year) but not exactly motivational. Trying to bike everyday now to tire myself out so i don't have to take a sleep aid to get more than 4 hours of sleep. New meds have also destroyed my appetite so I'm not snacking or eating more than necessary, i guess one of the perks of mental illness. Hope to get my scrawny indy-rocker physique back in a few months.

Slow and steady in my camp. My weekly routines had nearly plateaued, but reading many of your posts here and in Farcebookland have given me a boost to push a little harder, so cheers for that. Had a really great workout this week by pushing myself a bit. That said, I sometimes get overzealous and tweak one of my problem areas in ways that set me back months so ¦ forward, but measured.I ve dropped 10 pounds in the last couple weeks, due almost entirely to me taking a break from alcohol and the from the lazy food choices that accompany drinking. Feeling lighter, fresher, and stronger, which is nice. Some of this is in context with some shit that could be cross-posted with the Anxiety/Depression/Abstaining from Alcohol threads, but I won t clutter this thread with that stuff. In short, this is one area of my life that actually feels like it s going well, so I ll take it.

Started running up the stairs in my building. I do a light 2x10 flats of walking up, and then the 1x10 I tend to run up the stairs to get the heart rate going.Dumbbell training today. Maybe I'll go for a stair walk at the end for a bit more calorie burn.

it's not a diet it's food humans eat. you don't deny yourself, just recognize indulgence. it's hard to eat poorly when you cook at home. and cooking is an enjoyable endeavor. even if it comes with dishes. and to top it off: COOKING IS FUCKING EASY. step 1. good pans and good knife.step 2. meat and vegetables. (meat is debatable.) step 3. spices.

Haven't read back through this thread yet, but plan to. The older I get, the more I am really starting to get a gut after a lifetime of usually being rail thin. Fast metabolism, it was a good run, but you somehow left me as I turned 40 and got even more sedentary and slept like shit for a few years after having kids. Meh.Going to start with cutting out as much stupid sugar as I can and avoiding regular nightly "just one or two to unwind" beers. Fridge full of free cans of coke and just sitting on my couch before bed with two beers for the last few years has not been great for me.
