Actually, Rod Gervais and I had an email exchange after that where he was real cool at me once I emailed him my resume (he then seemed to believe I might actually know something about noise data acquisition) and explanation of how the answers that were being given were rather off-base.

With regard to how folks were throwing around "STC" in a meaningless fashion, only after I raised the issue did people backpedal a bit and offer responses that had anything to do with how noise measurements are taken in the "real world", i.e. the professional world. Honestly, the adherance to local noise ordinance is the only thing that would actually be relevant if an ongoing dispute (read: legal action) actually arose between the poster and his neighbor.

I lost interest in that forum immediately, based on what their "experts" had to say. Aaaaaaaanyway...

Loire is home to my favorite wines: Sancerre.

"Oh no you didn't!"

Thank you, Russ, I've always wanted an excuse to use that expression.

I stopped checking this forum for several months (no real reason, just got out of the habit), so it's interesting to come back and find these sort of debates going on. It's taken remarkably long for this forum to feature really aggressive troll-like behavior. It seems like just yesterday that Angry Dragon or Mucho Dragon or MachoManDragon or whatever he was calling himself that day was pissing everyone off. I've always been amazed at how consistently smart this forum is. But it was only a matter of time before it attracted the kind of people who use as a rationale for their obnoxiousness the idea that "you people are pussies who take the Internet too seriously, etc., etc."

Anyway, this thread has been fascinating. I had no idea all this intrigue was going on. Intern_8033's posts on this thread employ some sort of weird rhetorical style that makes me dizzy.

This thread is really uncomfortable.

It's like the movie, The Thing. The accusees that act relatively normal in other threads are in Melon Crazy mode here.

And we're all tied up and having our blood sampled, just waiting for the next poster's blood to freak out and escape the petri dish upon being burned, then everyone is going to start crying and screaming. And, of course, the latest accusee eventually busts his or her own head open to reveal a cthulhu-esque monstrosity that squirts Alien Snapple everywhere, and gets blowtorched to a crisp by the moderator.

This is TRUE.

And it is a high compliment that I fully endorse.

Salut, Andrew!

This picture, in my head you have created, She is Beautiful.

I am guilty. And i genuinely feel bad. I love this board, it makes me happy.

This situation is like this...............

Going over to your friends house, hanging out shooting the shit about anything that comes to mind, Music, film, art, gear and everything else.
people hanging out are for the most part respecfull. The occasional
argument breaks out. But it passes. Good conversation continues.

You like this, it's fun.

Until, you notice that in the middle of the living room is a gigantic pile
of human feces that talks. Not only does the pile talk, it spouts the most
inane crap you've ever heard.

So what do you do? Ignore it?

I don't know, It just makes me sad. I enjoy the standards of Electrical.

Are the forums an endangered species or at risk of being killed off by poachers or by members of Greenpeace disguised as poachers?
