I stand corrected- I haven't looked at them in years but yeah that's absolutely affordable. I think last I looked, the Radial solution was the only one I was aware of and while they are a CHONK of change, they do add isolation x-formers for whatever reason.

I might hafta consider ditching my bulky stage sub-snakes for a few of these lil' bastards.

Not sure if ethercon is that critical for these - do these DIY as easily as normal network cables? If they don't, cat 5 is cheap enough that could take a couple backups with normal RJ45 ends for when the tabs break off and still be ahead in cost and weight savings

We played a real good club show on Monday opening for Mike Watt's new thing MSSV.

After soundcheck the sound person was like, you guys are averaging 106 dBs. That's not like, dumb loud for a club, right? Felt good on stage and no one was cowering.

Stats that I have read seem to indicate that 106 dB is about normal for a rock show.

106 average is LOUD. I try to keep my peaks to around 100 db from FOH and average < 90 - 95.

According to the CDC, you can have hearing damage after 15 minutes above 100 db. Above 105 it drops to 5 minutes.

Yeah maybe we will turn down a little. Try to be in the 95-100 range. We all have good ear protection on so ears had no ringing the next day. My Orange OR120 is at 2 lol. Maybe I should dig out the 50 watt Marshall.

I've been doing most of my recent music projects in my home studio, which is basically a 10' x 12' shed behind my house. When drummers are involved, it's either an electronic kit, or a very small acoustic kit. When it comes time to play a loud show, we do a rehearsal or two in an hourly place.

I really love to get the amps loud to match the output of a powerful drummer. However, it's been REALLY nice to play at "adult volumes" most of the time. I either plug into my little 12 watt tube amps, or I just run my Helix into a power amp and a 1x12 cab. The volume we play it is JUST loud enough to get feedback. I feel responsible.

Yep! You could use the LS-2 in a number of ways here;
to split your signal and send to two amps
to take your signal and add an effects loop using A or B volume as a wet/dry blend with a single output
to split your signal into two signal chains using both effects loops and mix both output volumes in the pedal

I'm sure there are more ways it could be routed too. The LS-2 can solve so many problems, the only thing it can't do from that video is reverse polarity. My wife is currently using an LS-2 to run two lapsteels (Maj and Min) to one output with the ability to mute the least used one by footswitch.

Great to know. I was 99% sure it was the solution but was also 99% sure before and that didn't work out so...

Polarity shouldn't be an issue but if it is there's likely a cable or adapter fix to swap in.

I gotta tell you, I stepped way away from playing music for a decade. It wasn't until the pandemic (i was gifted the ability to work remote) that I was about to have time to put together an ok recording set up and see if I could still write a song. Learned how to use a drum machine, got better at playing bass, practiced playing guitar, even (gulp) worked on my voice. Did that for a few years and also enjoyed just doing the quiet volume thing. Got the bug so bad, when things started to get a little better decided to put a band back together. I really did miss the rumble, still feels almost novel (yet exciting) to move a lot of air. I am sure we will learn to turn down lol.

Mics or techniques to help avoid sounding like I’ve got a shitty piezo pickup in my sinuses. Working on the singing technique but it’s bad on the nnnn sounds

Let's say a total dipshit with not much experience working with guitars/hardware wanted to swap the pickguard of a Peavey T-60, would that be easy to do?
