Made some more vintage guitar part sales on Reverb so finally got a Sony C38B coming from Japan. It was sort of top dollar at around $850, but it was quite clean and comes with the original case and paperwork.
There were cheaper examples on ebay but it was obvious why those particular models were going for less, and they were still well over $700, so I didn’t see the benefit. Zen Market seemed to have the same basic Japanese sellers and mics that were listed on ebay and at not that much of a discount really, at least when I was checking a couple days ago.
Re: What are you buying, What's on its way?
1642Zoom L6 mini mixer.
I recently mounted 4 Sonicware Livin synths (little battery powered sequencer/synths like Korg Volcas) onto a large pedal board. Its extremely fun to just grab this one gigbag and have a ton of little synths in it. I ordered this little zoom mixer to toss in the pocket of the bag. It will allow me to do multitrack records of ambient synth jams, ot to plug into a PA or something. It's a pretty fun set up.
Livin Lofi 6, Ambient 0, Evoke, and Texture Lab driven by an Arturia Keystep Pro 37 into the little Zoom L6 mixer. all if it fits in a pedalboard gigbag with all the cables and power supplies if I need them.

1643how much do you like this - there's one for $400 in a shop by me where I can't crank it. I have zero need for it other than I want to feel like I belongthecr4ne wrote: Mon May 05, 2025 3:17 pmI got it. Spent my lunch break driving 45 min each way to pick it up. Haven't done anything with it yet, but it's here.Nate Dort wrote: Wed Apr 30, 2025 7:12 am Somebody in SoCal needs to go pick up this SVT-III (non-pro). These are my favorite hybrid tube/ss amps, and you don't see them pop up very often anymore. Same preamp circuit as an SVT, but with a BJT output stage. I would have already smashed the buy button, but it's local pickup only. Looks like it needs a little bit of work to fix the mid frequency selector switch and a general cleaning.

I guess I need an 8x10 now

1644I dunno, been busy with a newborn so I haven't had a chance to try it out yet. It's in a pile of stuff to get to eventually.TylerDeadPine wrote: Wed Jul 23, 2025 2:39 pm [how much do you like this - there's one for $400 in a shop by me where I can't crank it. 1645It's not something I have on the way but something I've owned for a few years and have to recommend. Buy a 5/8"-2 tap and die for repairing mic stands and clip threads. I use mine all the time and it rules

On a related note, if you've got any olde RCA or Japanese mic mounts that take a 1/2" non-tapered thread, get some 1/2” electrical box connectors with the screw clamp for 3/8” metallic flex/armor cable. The 3/8" clamp side fits nicely onto a standard 5/8” mic stand... 'cause... American sizes. Just protect the threads on the stand, and maybe test how solid the hold is before you put your heavy ass rca-77a on it suspended upside down.
Re: What are you buying, What's on its way?
1647Isn't it great? I almost impulse-bought one just because it's got so much in a little package, but what I really needed was a 2-channel interface dedicated to recording a stereo line level signal from my guitar rig, and I've been curious about 32-bit floating shmegeggies so I have one of these on the way:
Zoom UAC-232 USB 2.0 Audio Interface
Re: What are you buying, What's on its way?
1648Ampeg Vt 120 - the same as the example below. Got it for 300 bucks, which, I mean it's got like 10 fucking tubes in there, a power transformer, and everything works. Lots of speaker output options, and I'm halfway tempted to turn this into a head. The shaft on the reverb/bright knob is broken, but it still controls the reverb, and leaves the bright off, so no harm no foul for me.
Loud, loud, loud. I dialed in the clean channel last night, which sounds good now, but took a little bit - it's pretty bright on its own, I have the treble almost all the way down. Gonna try my EQ with it to see if that will round things out a little more.
Not a mind blowing amp, but you can't beat it for the price.

Re: What are you buying, What's on its way?
1649I was looking for small mixers that have at least 4 stereo inputs and was having a very hard time finding anything at all. Not only does the Zoom have that, but also 2 xlr, and it records multi track to an SD. It's perfect for my Groove Box go bag. If I don't use the Arturia midi controller, the Zoom and everything on this pedal board is battery powered. Great for going out to the woods or to an Air BnB, camping, etc. I can grab this set up and have a pretty good time.

1650Ordered a filmosound conversion from a local dude, getting it built into a 2x10 combo, should be ready next month. Stoked!
