I've never been there when my every thought wasn't "I have to get out of here as soon as possible."

One of the few places on earth where I have been in an all-ages club run by a man who was pretty much universally acknowledged to be a pedophile and a predator. There was a BED in the fucking CLUB. When I saw the bed, creepy old guy was sitting on it talking to four or so girls under the age of 17.

CREEPY.

Also the home of Vincent Van Go Go.... which is the sort of rock club that makes one start considering law school.

I'll second that. I had a friend who moved there and was only there for about 5 months before being nearly raped by some psychopath who worked at a "Waffle House". When she got this guy fired, everyone got all upset with her because, "Awww, that's just the way he is.." That's just one story of many.

I just spent 3 days there for work, and here are my observations:

Meth and crack? Check. Gangs? Check. Boarded up and tagged up houses? Check. Omnipresent agricultural smell? Check. Lack of decent dining options? Check. General overall tense and unsettled feeling? Check. Tweekers giving me the "what'r you lookin' at" face? Yup.

It made Walla Walla seem fucking awesome. (It's not too bad, actually.)

I love all of the dislike being showered on Spokane (and Eastern WA in general), I've probably said so in another thread in which tallchris disses it, it makes me feel not-so-crazy for hating this shithole.

I had a moment where I thought I was going to be thrown off of that super-tall bridge in Spokane by street kids who were aggressively bumming cigarettes.

1. in the winter its dead
2. in the summer its full of middle-class tourists who treat the area like some sort of safari park/investment opportunity
3. its pretty but i will never in this life be able to afford to live there
4. everything is massively overpriced specifically to screw cash out of the aforesaid gullible tourists
5. its run by the freemasons
6. the locals are frequently strange - either bitter and twisted by years of tourist industry induced servility, or two-faced scum-sucking small business people
7. there are also a lot of rich little fucks doing "outdoor pursuits" type things e.g. coasteering, surfing etc. these people are frequently disgustingly healthy looking, totally vacuous and very obsessed with the FACT that they are doing something really coool which allows them right of way over any other poor fucker trying to use the seashore. you are not coool you are ignorant little wankers. and yes i am an angler and yes these sort of people, who can see where you are fishing, insist on jumping in or standing/swimming/splashing right in front of you. this is then usually followed up by the cheerful question "have you caught anything". if a news item relating to coasteers and surfers being killed by anti-personnel mines ever crops up on the news then i think you'll guess who planted them. heh heh heh.

i could go on but i think you get the gist. if you are considering a holiday/investment opportunity in the part of Pembrokeshire have fun. but just remember that when you are sitting their loudly discussing how coool the day was or how you'd like to buy up blah blah blah, you are a cunt. and if you see a slightly fishy, bespectacled man approaching you with a filleting knife then leave quickly. and hopefully never come back.

I was born in Marseille but I have lived most of my life in Nice which is a better city to my opinion.
There are a few good rock bands in Marseille, some cool venues but the city is more oriented towards rap music.
It can be very cold during the winter, especially because of the wind. If you aren't interested in their shitty soccer team, you'll get almost as bored in Marseille than in Nice.
