This is a really strange listening experience on the first go-round. The "mashing" of Being for the Benefit of Mr Kite and I Want You (She's so Heavy) is actually pretty great.
Heavy.
I do not dislike this album.
(The principle is kinda crappy though).

BUMP.
I saw the stage show for Love last week in Vegas. I didn't have to pay for it, and was given copious amounts of free booze before the show.
I hadn't heard the Love record. Wasn't really interested. I'd never seen a Cirque du Soleil show, and wasn't all that interested. I don't like musical theater. I don't like my art with globs of twee and whimsy. Across The Universe is a for sure shitty movie night contender.
But I was incredibly moved by Love. I would pay to see it again. The dancing and swinging in the air and mashed up parts of songs I heard a million times? Totally awesome.
I'm sure it helps that I already love the Beatles. You're not going to go into this show liking the Beatles if you already don't. It probably also helped that I was kinda drunk.

I cringed when this came out but when I heard I thought it was quite good. It isn't really essential though and once the novelty wore off (after 2 or 3 listens) I haven't listened to it since.
Despite being a bit superfluous and a little chessey in places it deserves a vote of NOT CRAP.

This is something which seems like crap in theory but is not crap in execution, as an album at least.
It was produced by George Martin and his son Giles, who I believe did a lot of the mash-up work. So for nothing else, it’s collaboration between a legendary old-school producer and his son who seems keen on the computer, which is cool.
I actually like the version of “Octopus’ Garden” better than the original.
