EB Not Even Slinkys. Can't go wrong, best string gauge ever for a fucking jerkoff with no solos and bolt-on neck guitars.

I never really cared much for strings until I learned about tension and intonation etc. I used to just use whatever other strings I had that weren't broken. I once had four d-strings as the E A D G because I couldn't be bothered to ask my dad to drive my fat ass to a music shop. This was also before I knew about gauges...so keep in mind this was a few weeks ago by now.

That's what I use.

In the UK, there's a company called stringbusters. They are an online string/accessories retailer. Very cheap, and great service (next day delivery if you order before 3pm). I get my strings from there.

I tried the EB Power Slinkys (11-14-18p-28-38-48). Absolute shite, were dead before I played ten minutes. Last time I needed new strings, I bought the Beefy Slinkys (11-15-22p-30-42-54) because they didn't have have the D'Addarios - They're okay and they're lasting, but obnoxiously stiff in comparison and the tension isn't as even.

they're crap. overpriced andd they broke easily. the only two shows I had a string break live in 6 years were pyramids. fuck pyramids. I'd recommend the Thomastik Jazz swing series instead. cheaper, better sounding, hand-made and reealy good at still sounding crunchy if needed.

Tried these strings called "Blue Steel" they are really good!!

nice sustain, nice treble response and the clarity is amazing.
There is so much jargon on the back of the pack though, something about using cryogenics to re-align the molecular structure of the strings blah blah blah wank wank wank.

Since I bought themI have been noticing the words "blue steel" all over the place. In that movie Zoolander the other night (it's a catwalk move or something) and then I saw this video on sale at the store about some cops also called blue steel!! these strings have been the funniest thing I have bought for a while hehe.

Maybe I just don't know what I'm doing, but I really don't care that much about string brands, like I did 20 years ago.

I don't get the cheapo ones. Other than that, anything will do.

My least favorite seem to be GHS boomers, although I like them on bass. I'd still use the guitar strings though, if that's what was laying around.

If I were to get free strings for life, I'd probably pick Markley 10's

As it is, D'addario, or whatever is $5 a pack is fine by me. "Not dead" is nice, and I use Fast Fret these days to keep them clean.

try some other stainless steel strings.

The thing I find with switching brands constantly is that the gauges are always slightly different. Even if top and bottom E are identical (they rarely are) the others will vary slightly...enough for finger-confusion for me anyway.
