I never said WR was rock. I recommended that you post less
on forums you know little about(this), because it makes you look stupid. Stick to the rock forums, or go slug it out with Rickbob or talk about an amp or something.

My point was that Weather Report had nothing in common with Acoustic Alchemy.

To think that was true you would have to be
either severely pre-biased, or tone-deaf, or maybe both.
Oh yeah, and dumb.

You've presumed that I know little about Weather Report because I don't like them. They are equally as uninteresting as Acoustic Alchemy. There's something they have in common, right there.
It upsets you that I don't give them more credit for either a) being decedents of Miles or b) being the first for a lot of things.

Being 'the first' only goes so far with me. I wasn't there so I have no nostalgic relation to the music. They just don't sound good, at all, to me. Deal with it. Try to deal with it without assuming I don't know anything about music, jazz, musical history, etc. It's my knowledge of these things that has helped formed my opinion of this or any band.

Oh, and that they are difficult to listen to.

Hilarious. I went through the exact same thing. I even got to do Jaco's little one-bar breakdown in the middle.

"Birdland," you are the ultimate elevator music tune. Too bad you and Weather Report still suck.

Crap, no waffles.

Sure, like 'Heartbeat' and King Crimson still suck. 'Amandla' and Miles Davis still suck. Sounds a bit shallow, huh.

It's silly to judge any group by their radio hit. They had to eat.

Have you heard Night Passage, or Mr. Gone? I ask because I can't really fathom how anyone could call these crap.
And I know that sounds like I'm being precious and one-sided- but even if you don't like Jaco Pastorious or if Birdland reminds you of some Manhattan Transfer doodoo, you have to at least acknowledge their gifts as composers and musicians, as well as their high level of ensemble interaction.

The first time I ever played a show, Weather Report was also on the bill. I did not see their set.
