Green Day, Rancid and NOFX: Those bands all meant a lot to me in 1991-94. Early Green Day is still really great. The first couple Rancid records have some bangers for sure. NOFX has some great songs nestled in between all the silliness, and they were a hoot live. Modern Social Distortion can be a little ham-fisted especially with the Johnny Cash covers, but doesn't bother me that much. Solid rock, whatever.
Offspring is just awful.
Has anyone besides me run across people whose music tastes generally align with yours, but for some reason they think Blink-182 is rad? It's a strange thing that happens to me.

Offspring obviously.
I always despised NOFX more for their doofus jock fanbass rather than any of the music they made.
Green Day has a handful genuinely catchy songs, the presentation of which was cloying though.
Rancid were dumb but whatever.
Social Distortion have a handful of good songs, e.g., "1945", "Another State of Mind",
Bad Religion - NC, I generally like most of their discography up until the early 90s, including that odd prog-influenced album they did. They just repeated their formula into irrelevance though.
Pennywise - Bro Anthem? enough said. Their schtick was eclipsed by the Dropkick Murphies I guess.
Blink 182 - I once heard they sued a Canadian indie band called Blink over the name (can't 100% confirm that though). Shitty band.

Correct answer. The Offspring were somewhat redeemable (thinking
Ignition) before they started making novelty hits. Pennywise is worse than either.
All this music makes me think of the movie
The Chase.

NOFX is the Guided By Voices of punk rock. Yes, The Offspring is the worst, but good gawd, FUCK NOFX.
It's funny to accidentally compliment nofx by mistaking GBV for a bad band.
I can understand reasons why someone might not like GBV, but I don't understand the metaphor here. Did NOFX do a collage of lo-fi song snippets at some point?

Yeah.. NOFX puts out an album every other year or so, not crazy prolific or anything. They're also surprisingly good at their instruments when they drop the silly punk schtick and actually try (as noted, The Decline and certain songs off White Trash, Ribbed, etc.)

I don't like any of these bands except Green Day, but Offspring suck the most.

As far as NOFX,
The Decline is a fantastic song/album(?)
I don't know any NOFX songs except for this one. First heard it whilst working at a bar. I can't deny a rousing anthem, and, boy oh boy.
Social Distortion was my first punk rock show so there's a bit of nostalgia with them. Also watched SHARP kick the everloving shit out of a racist skin after the show. It was nice. And I dig their track on the Hell Comes to Your House compilation.
Don't know any Bad Religion really but Dr. Greg Graffin is cute.
"Ruby Soho" is aight.
Offspring is the correct answer. Fuck that band.

Green Day were great up to and especially including Insomniac, which means they've only been bland-to-awful for, what, 27 years now? Not bad.
Life Won't Wait was, I think, the first album I bought on the day it came out. I was 14, so I feel no shame around this. Rancid is not a band I can listen to now, but I probably wouldn't play the bass guitar if not for Matt Freeman. No enduring soft spot for the band, even through the blurry lens of nostalgia, but Matt Freeman continues to rip.
NOFX, however, I can still tolerate in (extremely) small doses. I wouldn't listen to them on purpose. Erik Sandin is one of the best drummers in rock music, to the point that it's unfortunate that his legacy will be NOFX.
I have no feelings about Social Distortion. They have nice guitars and amplifiers, I guess.
Offspring are fully irredeemable, but I will cop to owning one of the Noodles duct-tape Ibanez guitars because it was $150. Offspring are the worst of the lot, no question.
Fun Bad Religion fact: Greg Graffin is a prolific webcam pervert stretching back decades. Genuinely surprised he didn't get Me Too'd.

Agree. Also Fat Mike is an interesting and open guy around with his own gender fluidity which, given their appeal to suburban adolescent folks, probably has personally helped a number of folks struggling with gender/sexuality stuff. They really really lean hard on puns and spoonerisms though, jeez...
