Yup, from what I've heard. Also Jeff Lang. Have you heard the album they did together? I think Chris is mostly singing on it, but its still pretty good.

I don't know if this has been said yet, but Sonic Boom and J. Spaceman from Spacemen 3. I have been on Vicodin today (recovering from surgery) and listening to The Perfect Prescription and it sounds so great.

Oddly apropos choice of drugs for that record. It's the picture next to the dictionary definition of "narcotic."
Nobody has mentioned Mark Gentry of Rein Sanction (Floridians! For shame!) and it still sort of bugs me that more people didn't go nuts about them when they were more active.

I know he's been noted primarily as a songwriter, but there's something about Ted Leo's guitar playing- especially when he plays leads- that sticks out but remains tasteful.

I think Sonic Boom used to use a Vox Starstreamer a lot, but I could be completely offbase.
Vox amps?
Mindblowing light rigs?
I think there was a pedal made to make you into insta-Boom, something something Repeat Percussion or something.

What Gary Numan tracks demonstrate his playing well? I thought he mostly played guitar on the Tubeway Army material, in addition to writing most of it. He is undoubtedly good at crafting songs, but I haven't heard anything demonstrating anything other than good taste...
