they're not as good as "goat" or "liar" but neither is "down" or "head." that doesn't mean these albums are actually as bad as people say.

Taking into account what band made them, There is not song on either Shot or Blue worth a shit.
Sure there may be a few bits here and there somewhat listenable, but that's the fucking Jesus Lizard who made them....those records are an embarrassment. That band putting out anything less than completely Earth shaking is an embarrassment.
They wern't a luke warm 'eh, it's ok' kinda band, you dig?
It's like a solid gold statue of Ronald McDoanld, you know? You see it and just say 'That's what they did with all that gold?'

good point. those songs are well beneath them, but i can tell they didn't want to retread any old ideas.

Old ideas like what? Being a good band?

like rewriting the same song over and over.
which fugazi wasn't above doing.

Later TJL suffered from this like the herpes, Fugazi might have had a two day bout.

Jesus Lizard by a long way.
I didn't get the chance to see either, but going by the records, Fugazi moves me a million times more than TJL. Fugazi's music constantly shifts and had such great dynamics, plus Ian and Guy singing gave the music more of a personality.
Fugazi by a million miles.
It's pretty confusing. I prefer TJL despite my penchant for favoring bands that evolve effectively.
