I don't need it for much more than enclosures and the occasional odd job that might come up.
I've had that same press for about 10 years, I think, though I haven't used it much in the last 5. I was using it to drill out enclosures and faceplates when I was racking PM1000 channels. I did a bunch PCBs with a very tiny bit as well. Worked well for that.

A lot of Taiwanese power tools are clones, and I have a Sears branded drill press that looks a lot like that. There's a little sloppiness in the "quill" (I think it's called), so it's not the most precise, but it's totally acceptable for woodworking or soft metals. I use mine a bunch.

If you're using it a bunch for pedal enclosures, I'd also use some center punches to keep the bits from wandering around.

Thanks for the info! This all lines up with the little bit of research I did elsewhere. Glad to hear I don't need to start my search over or spend more money. :)

Nothing to do with music tech, but I just got a new Android phone and can't drag and drop files onto it via USB-C. When I plug it in it shows as charging and doesn't show as a Windows drive, nor can I find a means to switch what the USB cable is doing on the phone.

Is your USB C cable a charging-only cable? Some cables lack the data pins.

There should be a pop-up notification when you connect to the PC to enable data transfer, otherwise it will default to charging only.

You may have to download an app for your PC. I needed to do this recently between Android and Mac and had to download some application.

Does anybody have a cost-effective and compact solution for outboard spring tank amplification? I'm sure there is some super obvious solution to this.

I just want a cheap spring tank for a noise duo, and I don't want to spend a lot of time hooking up auxiliary mixing desks or use multiple boxes, if possible.

I'm getting really annoyed I don't know how to solder and that my knowledge about electrical stuff is minimal.

You can find a Danelectro Spring King pedal for about a hundred bucks (or less) on a good day. It's a big pedal with a real spring reverb inside. Finding a cheap amp with a built in spring reverb to bang on would work, too.

Starting from scratch with just a tank and no circuit opens a can of worms in that you have to figure out how to route and amplify your signal properly. I'd say it would be cheaper, faster, easier to get something that can be used (or modified to be used) without much hassle.

It is starting to seem that way. Spring King seems to be 99€ on Thomann, so that's not bad at all.

I'd still like to know what it would take to make spring tank work if anybody has the time to explain? Could I use a mini mixer to as an effect loop for it, or would it need more amplification to work?
