I've sat through A Minor Forest twice and was not impressed at all.
June of 44 were pretty bad when I saw them during the "Anahata" tour.
I saw the Liars play after their first record came out, they opened for ....Trail of Dead and smoked those assholes off the stage. I saw them after their second record came out and they were awful, and I'm sure it wasn't a down night 'cause my buddy saw them two days later and concured with me.
Pavement during the Crooked Rain tour.
And finally special mention must be given to Tara Jane O'Neil for her non stop insults of her Iowa City audience who were being (for the most part) respectful during her entire set up until the end when she had the audacity to say "Do you know who I am? I don't NEED to play Iowa City."
WTF?

32Q and not U, I really like these guys, but the live show was just not on par with their albums.

33Trail of Dead. I hated, hated, hated, hated that band with every fiber of my being by the time their 90 minute OPENING SET was done. Yes, 90 minutes and no one was even there to see them.
They switched instruments about a million times, recited their bad high school poetry lyrics like they were the most important words ever uttered, and ended their set (I'm not making this up) with a 10 minute noise clusterfuck in which they trashed their equipment while one member stood by the microphone chanting the band's name over and over. This went on for ten fucking minutes at the end of a set that had already well exceeded an hour.
The 6 months in which everyone seemed to like this band might have been the hardest six months of my life. Their recorded music always struck me as being almost as interesting as wadded-up white bread dipped in tap water. But after I was subjected to their "explosive live performance" I can honestly say that if I had access to the band after that set I would have beat the living shit out of whichever one I could get my hands on. I simply don't have words to express how awful they were, how much I hated them, and what pretentious, self-important fratboys in disguise they are. I hope they all die of something that makes it burn when they pee.
Ever since this show I have been left with the unfortunate habit of completely writing off every person I meet who says anything remotely favorable about Trail of Dead. If you have seen this band live and thought it was awesome, I have good news and bad news. The bad news is you're a fucking retard, but the good news is you'll die soon because retards usually die really young.

Very agreed. I saw them as a 3-piece. I expect they may have actually "brought it" back in the day when they could focus on doing their thing, as opposed to filling the void.
They tried to play bass. One guitar and one bass did not even come close to doing right by me. Especially when the guy playing bass sucked a dick at it.
I'm going to add GoGoGo Airheart. I have an album of theirs that I picked up when I was curious what the deal was with this band that had done a split with 90 Day Men. I really dug that album and even talked about it on this forum. Having sene them live, tonight, for the first time, I can say I was sadly underwhelmed.

That gig was like listening to the album through a huge cd player. Boring crap.

That gig was just flat.
-Cat Power
She left the stage crying because someone in the audience burped. Although the burp was the highlight of the gig.

Excuse me, but how did the Ex fail to "bring it" live? Was it after Luc left and they replaced him with an upright bassist?
They played one of the most awesome sets I've ever seen back in '98, and I'm about to see them again on Tuesday. Hope they bring it this time.

40Magik Markers--this band just plain sucks. I saw them open up for Dinosaur Jr. The drummer can play, the two chicks literally just hit their guitar strings...no chords...simply terrible.
The Shins--Saw them right before they blew up. Cost me 8 bucks. Worst 8 bucks I've spent in years.
Ted Leo--whatever.
Spoon--bored the shit out of me.
