Straight bars didn't like the punk crowd, but gay bars liked flamboyance of any kind. I know most of the shows I went to in the early 1980s had either the brunt or the vestiges of the queer involvement apparent.

So, if you were into punk rock in the late 70s-early 80s, you spent at least a little time in gay bars. Gay or not-gay.

This might explain a good friend of mine during the late 90s when I worked in the stockroom of a Virgin megastore. He was older than me and very flamboyantly gay, but also an old hardcore kid. It made for an amazing musical rotation: he'd mainly play Fugazi, Minor Threat, Kylie Minogue or Randy Crawford. At the time, being a young'un, I'd just got in to Mogwai and Warp records stuff. The funny thing is, I'd rather listen to Fugazi, Minor Threat, Kylie Minogue or Randy Crawford over Mogwai these days.

Anyhows, I've been to many gay bars in central London, if only because when I was a teenager both my best friends came out at the same time and needed some moral/neutral/hetero support. It strikes me that most of you guys have found gay joints to be seedy, but (maybe just cos it's central london) I never really found that Except at Trade. Which is GHB hard techno annihilation.

He went to bed about a decade ago, or whenever he sold his soul to the bankers and the elites.

Everyone who has the slightest inkling about the early punk rock scene knows that more often than not fags, dykes, queens, lady-boys etc were present in droves. This is not news, Mr. Steve.

My only point in the other thread was to prove that I am not someone who bases his morality regarding sexuality on blind hypotheses and unthinking adherance to Christian morality.....in fact when it comes to morality, hypotheses non fingo. I've seen enough of the queer scene to know what it is and what it is about, and it has helped drive home my convictions.

Mayhew,

Dude, be comfortable with who you are. You talk about the shit too much to not be interested. Get in touch with your bi-curious side. Indulge a little and you won't be so hung up about it. Maybe if you experiment you'll see you like it or not but either way it won't be eating you up inside like now.

Most straight people that are cool with it don't think about it all that much but most Santorums seem awfully hung up on other people's sex lives. That doesn't speak highly about their own fulfillment.

Roscoe's may be kind of mellow for you. If so try the Manhole.

I don't think God cares if you act slutty on Broadway.
