I'm quite a fan of the deeply unfashionable Sessionette 75.
Very loud, very clean, very light, great value used...

The original or the more recent one?
I heard the more recent one is supposed to be absolutely fantastic.

Nice amps. I played through a 2x10 once for a jazz gig. Good for the jazz.

The old-skool carpet-covered 1x12. The new one may be fantastic, but it retails at over £500, whereas the old one can be Ebayed for £100...
I have a mid-80s version and it's the quietest (in terms of unwanted noise) amp I ever encountered. The dirty channel is probably a little less...useful than your typical modern tranny amp, but the clean channel is fab.

36Could I hijack the thread for a moment? It's almost on topic - it's my birthday next week and I've really been enjoying playing my guitar again (recently enhanced with new tuners courtesy Nico and Adam, and DR strings c. another thread) and thinking about buying a nice practice amp. I had thought about an Orange Tiny Terror but I think even that will be too much for my bedroom. Ideally, I'd like to be able to push it to overdrive without being too loud and it will just be for home use. Any thoughts about these little dudes? I'm starting to feel smitten just looking at it:

37Chris - i think a Fender Pro Junior would be ideal for your needs - 15W tube amp with 10" speaker. Or the Epiphone Valve Junior as previously mentioned...
You'd need to buy a speaker cab if you went down the Minimat/Tiny Terror route...

38Thanks babe!
However, I have a friend who can sell me a decent 1x12 cab so I am sorely tempted by the valve head route. Also -
>Epiphone
Great for the money but Chinese built, pcb, cheap caps and transformers, ersatz Weber speaker vs. point to point wiring, schematics from the ark and the dude that built it on the end of the phone. I still say Matamp!

39If it's just for bedroom playing, i doubt you'd see the benefit in using a boutique amp over factory made one to be honest!
And don't listen to what the tone snobs on the internet have been saying either, those Epiphones are great little amps!

40If I may be permitted to commit EA heresy, I'd buy a digital modelling amp if I were you.
I reckon that you'd get far more pleasing results at bedroom level from a Line 6 combo or whatever than a 15 watt valve amp set to 'quiet'.
Plus you'd have the option of sounding like Limp Bizkit.
Depends on how much noise you can get away with regularly making I guess.
