All this talk of large head sizes, and of hats in general, it warms my heart.

It's right up there with when I found out chronic masturbation is a good preventative against prostate cancer...

My head is large. Friends have pointed this out to me for years. However! A couple of years ago, there was a head-measuring, and of the three people in the room with big heads, mine was actually the smallest...

A couple of thoughts:

1) I like the idea of a hat, but I'm not sure I can pull it off... I knew a guy in college who wore a Fedora, but he was sort of pretending to be Frank Sinatra. It seemed insincere, and I'm speaking as a man who once used a cigarette holder for a time, a few years ago. I blame JFK for popularizing hat-less-ness. But I think the current/next generation will gravitate towards brimmed hats as we drift into our Golden Years. Our parents did not do this...

2) OK. I have a big head. But I can usually find a large hat that fits me... What I can NEVER find is a pair of sunglasses that fits comfortably on my enormous face. Do any of you large-domed men have a similar problem? I mean, it's serious: I buy approximately one pair of sunglasses every two or three years -- and I buy any and every pair that fits on my head. What to do? Are there specialty stores for such things?

Thanks. And Happy New Year to one and all.

Best,
Mr. King

I also have a hard time finding sunglasses. I can never find a pair that fits 'off the rack'. So I go to Pearl Vision (or something similar) for frames and have them put in non-prescription lenses. It can be expensive, but I can always find a pair that fits well, and they can do some minor adjustments for you.

I used ta wear fitted baseball caps all the time.
7 5/8"
Now I don't wear any hats.

My neck feels comfortable in an 18 or 18.5" collar, but it depends on the material. Also, if I lost some weight, I could do a smaller size.

I happen to know that Steve buys his hats online from the headwear division of American Sartorial Supply.

That's ASS-Hat.com.

You can cry on my shoulder sir, as I share your pain. I'm 6'5" (I just found out from a recent physical that I grew another inch. What the fuck!? I'm 24!) and my head is elephant-man large. I have not been able to own a suitable pair of sunglasses since I was 16.
