Harvard can suck my balls, they're just running on name and exclusivity now. My friends there don't work.

Ultimately, how much you get out of college depends on how much you put in. You can get a great education everywhere if you work at it, but places can have perks.

I'm at the University of Chicago. It's expensive, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. Most of my teachers have been in the range from good to amazing - I had four professors last quarter alone who would qualify as fucking brilliant. The whole hyper-intellectual-to-the-point-of-masochism atmosphere here ensured that A) I don't have to deal with idiots that I can't even talk to and B) I have to fucking work, and that means I have to fucking learn. Some places are worth the cash - it's all a matter of what you want.

i completely agree. also, if you go to a good enough school, apparently you capitalize properly when posting in internet forums. that's what i get for going to a state school.

It's good for the idiots too because they don't have to listen to your boring drivel about how much fucking smarter and better you think you are then the rest of the world. Lucky them!

unfortunately, this doesn't work. i, for one, don't run around telling people my GPA and IQ. in fact, i generally just don't talk to people, because i don't have much to say about what they want to discuss most of the time. it's not that more cerebral people are "better," they're just different. it's like if you were a big football fan, you probably wouldn't want to talk to someone who hated football and instead loved baseball. it's not like there's a sports-hierarchy or anything (no. there's not. don't even start with the baseball.), it's totally a matter of preference.

I think going to college is something that's generally good to do.

You'll learn interesting things about the world around you, develop discilpline, and become explosed to liberal bias.

Being ignorant sucks.

College is overrated.

Don't get me wrong, I went, and everyone should go to educate themselves if given the chance, but to me anyway, it was a means to an end. Meaning getting a better job, frankly.

It's boring sitting in class and taking tests, with only small talk to pass the school year. Having a real job is so much more intellectually stimilating for me.

Sure there is the social aspect of college, but I hate people who base their entire social lives around college. You can meet new people anywhere; it does not have to exclusively be at an educational institution. I think it is one of the most boring places to meet someone of interest, frankly.

And then you get people who say that college is the best time of your life. Not even close. It's like that annoying pause before you can be taken seriously in the eyes of the real world. Like I said, a means to an end. I went for benefits in my life afterward, pure and simple.

I can get high, drunk and laid in one evening without a college campus. But I suppose others would rather have annoying classes interrupting all that.....
