Every year, without fail, my step-mother buys me a 'Cosby sweater' for Christmas. Every year, I put it in the nearest clothes drop, ASAP. To all the less fortunate out there, I'm sorry.

I took a bunch of old winter clothes, put them in a ratty old suitcase and left them under the Kennedy Expressway overpass on Belmont, where all the homeless people sleep. There was a guy sleeping there underneath a huge pile of blankets. I just walked up, set it on the concrete next to him and hightailed it outta there.

Oh, the lame gifts.

Let's start with the year my mother gave my wife:

* a can of mixed nuts
* way-too-small fuzzy slippers
* an OXO ice cream scoop ("That handle is great!")
