Metro show 03/25/05- FAB, the sound was killer, the balcony was the place to be, although assclowns on the make kept talking near the bar.
Only one "shut the fuck up" was issued.

The sweatshop-free Slint shirt with the spider on it was the obvious right choice.

Re: light show- I thought it was entirely appropriate, and did not distract from the music. Then again, I enjoy Genesis cover bands.

A bad light guy who knows nothing about the band can be a pain in the ass, but this clearly wasn't the case at the Metro. Mad props to Todd.

Show Bonus - meeting Kevin from Electrical Guitars-drinks were consumed and guitars were talked about.

I've seen Slint in a basement, a thai restaurant, and now in a big rock club. Each venue brought something unique to the Slint experience.

I have been motherfuckin sick for a week now. Sick enough that my wife and I did not use the most expensive tickets I have ever bought for anything. This makes me sad.

Then I learned that Nyquil can have a nervous making side effect that I did not know about which is causing me to freak out like I have never freaked out before. I stopped taking it Saturday, and the effect is only wearing off now.

Then I ran into Kip from Dianogah at the grocery store yesterday (cause we have been sick longer than our food supply held out) and I almost did not talk to him because he was wearing tinted glasses and I was sure that Kip would not wear tinted lenses. Kip said Slint were amazing, and my Nyquil induced fear went spazmotic. I have been extra freaked out since then. I do not blame Kip. I blame Slint. They have obviously destroyed my life. Slint and Nyquil.

I don't think you should feel bad about blaming Kip. He should know better than to wear tinted glasses in the grocery. Blame him..

I drove from Denver for the 3/25 show. Not only did I get a speeding ticket but I also waited for 2 hours at the Wal-Mart in Grand Island, Neb. to get a tire replaced on my car. It was all worth it, they fucking slayed, esp. during Pam and Rhoda. I was in the front row and aside from the two assclowns that were headbanging right next to me and the guy who kept stepping on my foot so he could better see which guitar chords to rip off in his band MAth Wolf, it was simply fucking awesome.

(Edit: I didn't pay attention to the light show, since I wasn't there for the light show. I wish I would've punched the guy who yelled "REDNAILS!" after every song in the jock).

And I thought I was crazy for driving to LA. My tire blew as well, and I'm just now recovering financially for all expenses ($40 hoodie exempt).

It was worth it. I would've kicked myself if I hadn't gone.

I did not attend any of the shows, but one thing that I really liked was the onstage placement of the band members/musicians.

For those of you who attended the shows, did Slint's stage set up strike you as being particularly cool or interesting?

Of course, "no" is a perfectly legitimate answer to this question.

Oddly enough, I'm not kicking myself.

I'm not sure what that means.

I thought having the singer way off to one side was brilliant. Of course, maybe it's just that he and Pajo hate each other. Whatever works. A great show. Great sound, creepy lighting, fantastic playing. Couldn't ask for more.
