Knowing how underrated old Traynors are wattage-wise (I had a 45w yba-1 that performed more like a V-4) I'd say yeah, there's a decent chance that setup is louder.

So is a 50 watt, and a 30 watt used in combination, more powerful than a single 100 watt amp?
Probably. You have to remember, a 100 watt amp really isn't that much louder than a 50 watt. You usually gain a little more headroom and/or tighter bottom end given the same type of amp. Certainly not twice as loud. What you're noticing here is that two amps are usually louder than one. It's possible that under the right conditions (speaker number, efficiencies, frequency peaks) that even two 20 watt amps could be louder than a single 100 watt one, depending on which ones. Even 50 watt amps from multiple manufacturers can sometimes be grossly different in terms of perceived volume.

Absolutely not.
However, as Tommy noted there is a difference between power and perceived volume. A 50 watt head running through a 4x12 of Greenbacks will sound louder than the same head running through a 1x12 with a Greenback. A 20 watt head with a full stack might sound louder than a 100 watt head with a small cab. This is all assuming the same speakers too, because different models have different efficiencies and may sound louder or quieter. ALSO the relationship between power (watts) and volume is not linear. A common yardstick that gets thrown around is that double ones volume you need 10x the power. Again that's assuming the same speaker setup.

I’m looking for an inexpensive (or reasonable) distortion pedal that actually gives you “too much” distortion if you want it. I have used a Boss HM-2 for years, but there’s got to be something with way more distortion saturation these days. Any suggestions? Thank you.
Thank you Curry! This is looking like it might be just what I was searching for. Much appreciated.

I thought it might be unlikely given that it's a bit of a one trick pony, but it does seem to fit your criteria.

Are there 2 Tony Balls on the forum? A Doctor Tony Balls from New York and a Tony Ballz from Tucson?

If I'm playing a keyboard/samples setup, would most live sound folks prefer that I incorporate a DI into it so they can just plug the XLR into mine? Or would they rather get the 1/4" jack and go into their DI? Trying to make this as little of a pain in the ass as possible.

I've never had a preference. If someone has a DI with a preamp or EQ on it they like to use I'm happy to use theirs. If not, grabbing any old DI is also fine. I've never been picky about DI's. I own a bunch from active Countryman DIs, spendy Passive Radial JDI, and a bunch of those cheapo IMP DI. Couldn't care less about which one I grab at any time. They are all fine. As long as it has a ground lift it is fine.
