He's got the right voice for a dance track
("Blind").

Brett Eugene Ralph wrote:Antony's performance was by far the best thing in that recent Leonard Cohen tribute concert movie. Better even than Nick Cave's. Really mesmerizing stuff. Maybe I'll give his record another try.
Seconded.
My girlfriend showed it to me and I was pretty impressed. Haven't liked anything else I've heard of his though.

i like the song "the atrocities" and "cripple and starfish" is ok, great lyrics. that's it. i tried many times and even liked the s/t album for a few spins. then i just kept going back to the above track. it's too personally dark for me. he's clearly talented but the "torch song" aspect does doesn't keep me hooked.
overall i think the music is crap. some waffles for the humorous lyrics and his voice.

It seems pretty classy to me...and I tend to dislike this sort of thing. For example, I could not get on board with Ys. I know I'm supposed to be able to explain myself properly on this board, but all I have is my gut...and in this case, I guess my gut has turned sissy.
The lyrical content...well, let's just say I can't relate to all the stuff on that I Am a Bird Now record. Still, I find myself putting on this record more often than I expected to when I bought it.
