Anyway, I chemically straightened my hair throughout my early-20's resulting in permanent damage so I began cue balling it. Short hairstyles and/or baldness is more fetching than I care to admit, it's the maintenance that vexes me. Cheaper for damn sure, but I hate the whole rigamarole of it. Same with nail maintenance. Easier just to pay to have it done, but I haven't visited a barber in years

That's what I call it. Many would call it a fu-manchu or handlebars. Both incorrect. Horseshoe would get you the appropriate cut at the barber.

Moral of the story: sometimes it's easy confuse serial killers played by Tom Noonan.

For some reason I never expected to go bald, and it bummed me out hard when it started to set in. As such, I held on to what was left of my hair SEVERAL years too long. There are several years of pictures I would love to nuke off the face of the planet, except they also have my beloved daughter in them.

I shave the whole thing now, and I've more or less made peace with it. Growing facial hair made the transition easier. On the one hand, I feel like I owe everyone an apology, because the last thing the world needs is another bald dude with a variation of a goatee, but on the other hand, I think it suits my aging face better.

And yes, the whole thing has been a good exercise in trying to age somewhat gracefully.
