Your defensiveness suggests to me that you are insecure about the status of your city. This is a common trait I find within your community.
Big hat, no cattle, so to speak.

42i'm originally from toledo, so i've gone up to detroit about a hundred thousand times. the worst thing that ever happened to me or my car in detroit is that somebody from the band Thoughts Of Ionesco slapped one of their stickers onto my bumper while i was watching a show.
i went to clean, liberal, crime-free toronto one time and had my car broken into and about 150 CDs and my stereo stolen.

No shit. I lived in Detroit for many years. No real harm ever came to me there. Chicago has it's fair share of scary/rundown hoods.
I was nearly jumped outside the Aragon about a year ago. I think the thing that saved me was nervously pulling out my cell phone(I was a little scared!). Once the phone was in my hand, the dudes for some reason ran away. Which was nice, cuz I had no other plan whatsoever.
Frankly I have found St. Louis to be the worst city I have been to in the last five years.
I <3 meat hod.
