Is Detroit an enjoyable place to visit?
I'm driving to Montreal next weekend. I'm considering stopping in Detroit on Friday night. Should I stop? or should I continue on into the territories?

If you find car jackings enjoyable (being jacked...not jacking) then yes, Detroit is great. While not the worst city in the United States it is very close. Perhaps second worst, just behind The Armpit (aka Cleveland).
We played a show there a few years back at a BYOB "club." A friend went out for beer and got car jacked on his way back. The worst part is that they stole our beer too! The car is one thing...but the beer? Have a heart Mr. Robber. We vowed never to return, without turrets installed on our van. Of course we have returned many times and that city is never good.

5The last time I was in Detroit my car was broken into (they tried to steal it). It was parked on Woodward, under a street light, two blocks from the police station, while a police sting operation was going on inside the building that overlooked my car. The purpose of the sting operation was to stop rampant car theft along the Woodward corridor. When we went down to the police station to file a report we discovered that seven other cars had been stolen from the same block that night.
So I wouldn't recommend it. Also it's pretty much a wasteland except for a good rock show once in a while and all the sports stuff.
