A biologist friend of mine, regarding this, has said, "The stuff was called thimerosol and it is no longer used in vaccines, even though its correlation with autism was never certain."
She has a small essay on vaccinations
here.

Here's a NYT article:
"On Autism's Cause, It's Parents vs. Research":
Public health officials like Ms. Ehresmann, who herself has a son with autism, have been trying for years to convince parents like Ms. Rupp that there is no link between thimerosal - a mercury-containing preservative once used routinely in vaccines - and autism.
They have failed.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Food and Drug Administration, the Institute of Medicine, the World Health Organization and the American Academy of Pediatrics have all largely dismissed the notion that thimerosal causes or contributes to autism. Five major studies have found no link.
Yet despite all evidence to the contrary, the number of parents who blame thimerosal for their children's autism has only increased. And in recent months, these parents have used their numbers, their passion and their organizing skills to become a potent national force. The issue has become one of the most fractious and divisive in pediatric medicine. (bold added)

This was discussed earlier in the thread.
From
WaPo:
Large international studies -- and preliminary evidence from the United States -- suggest that after thimerosal was removed from children's vaccines, autism rates continued to soar.
And a
Slate article challenging Bobby Kennedy's anti-thimerosal article in Rolling Stone:
The best evidence comes from Denmark, which stopped putting thimerosal in vaccines in 1992; the rate of autism in kids born afterward continued to increase.
ETA: If it's not thimerosal causing autism, let's stop wasting time on it and try to find the real cause (mercury in the environment? something else?).

Yeah, that's an infallible agency.
I disagree. As I've said numerous times here, the FDA is far from perfect.

“Although some of the increase in autism can be ascribed to more efficient diagnosis by the medical community,” Dr. Carlo said, “A rise of this magnitude must have a major environmental cause. Our data offer a reasonable mechanistic explanation for a connection between autism and wireless technology.”
I'm skeptical until seeing more evidence that autism can be caused by wireless technology, but this is a step in the right direction I guess--admitting that the problem isn't mercury in (current) vaccines.
Another possible explanation for the steep rise in autism rates: diagnosis. More children are being called autistic, when in the past some kids with the same symptoms were not diagnosed with autism per se.

Hey! I was going to post today's Rense.com image.

Ever seen that episode of Steptoe and Son where old man Steptoe won't have a TB examination because he thinks that TB examinations cause TB? Something to the effect of "In my day we didn't have TB, we all died peacefully and naturally without meddling science!"

If anyone knows of any studies that show a definitive link between any wireless technology and ill health effects; please post links or cite sources. I'm aware that this is a concern among some, but AFAIK there is no solid evidence that wi-fi, cell phones, etc. cause harm. If there is, I'd like to look at it.

the problem is corn syrup, other refined carbs, and manufactured soy proteins given to young children in perhaps small, but usually continuous doses
